Eddie Villarta is the current IT Advisor, and a former Executive Director and Board Member of the Philippine Centre Canada in Ottawa. He was President of Rotary Club of Nepean-Kanata, Member of Advisory Committee of the Algonquin College – Computer Technology Program, and Board Member for Pinecrest – Queensway Community Health Centre.
Eddie is an Information Technology professional with more than 25 years of experience in technology, banking, logistics, business process operations and higher education industries. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from University of San Carlos, and a Master of Engineering in Technology Innovation Management from Carleton University. He currently works as Network Services Manager at Carleton University and also teaches part-time at Carleton University’s School of Information Technology.
Eddie is one of the first members of DiverseCity onBoard program and has been promoting and supporting diversity in leadership for years. He mentored immigrants in search of first job through Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization and his own initiatives. He is also involved with Pinoys On Parliament Mentorship Program by helping young Filipino-Canadians develop their skills as they prepare and navigate their professional journey.
